The Darkan Caravan Park is located walking distance from the centre of town (1.5km on the rail trail). It is a quiet and peaceful place to rest on your journey. Exceptional kitchen and ablution facilities, a fire pit, and the local rail trail adjacent to the park have resulted in exceptional reviews and a 4.5 star rating on Wikicamps. The park is lush and green and surrounded by trees and birds. The firepit is a great place for the kids to toast marshmallows after spending the day on the pump track in the centre of town. The park is dog friendly (on a leash) with the town oval nearby to provide more space for your pooch.
The park has two cabins for those travelling without a caravan or tent. Each cabin has two bedrooms, one bathroom and a well equipped kitchen. One cabin has been designed to accommodated wheelchair access. There are grassed powered and unpowered sites. Some powered sites also have a cement slab for your van. The heritage listed Nissen Hut is suitable for groups and travelers with swags. It provides an indoor area to lay out the swag, with a small kitchenette and living area and is a unique accommodation option. There is a locked dump point located at the park. The camp kitchen has a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, hotplate, BBQ and kitchen sink. The locked ablutions are clean and provide ensuite style facilities including a parenting bathroom with a bath and a disabled access bathroom. A laundry with washing machine and dryer is also provided. For those beautiful winter nights, there is a communal firepit to sit around and look at the stars.
The caravan park is located approximately 2km from the centre of Darkan on Coalfields Highway. Lake Towerrinning, the star attraction in the area, is located 33km south of Darkan and is well worth the drive for those that love a secret spot. Collie with a multitude of attractions including walk, cycle, and horse trails is only 60km to the west. Williams and the Woolshed is located 40km to the north.
